Please meet Mark Arnold, our current Artist in Residence at Working Draft!
Mark specializes in oil painting, and this quarter he is showcasing rural landscapes and scenes of rural southern Wisconsin, such as Lodi, Paoli, and Baraboo. As you’ll see in the selections here, he captures the serenity of rural Wisconsin, highlighting the wooded expanses, bodies of water, and rocky bluffs that generations of Wisconsin residents and visitors have enjoyed for many years.
We find a depth to each work that may owe itself to Mark’s slow and steady approach. When asked about his process, Mark says, “I average about eighty painting sessions a summer. Each suitable day I set up at 10:00 am and then again at 4:00 pm. Usually four different paintings are rotated throughout the summer. I had thought that this would allow for faster work than my studio paintings, however, during the past forty two years 170+ paintings have been completed.”
We’re very excited to have Mark in the taproom on Sunday, 3/15, from 2pm - 3:30pm to talk about his craft. Please join him (and us!) to enjoy and appreciate his artistic vision!
