BJ Hollers reads from his newest book MIDWESTERN STRANGE, investigating various oddities, & our fascination & delight with them.
$1 from each pint sold will be donated to Reach Out & Read Wisconsin.
Midwestern Strange chronicles B.J. Hollars’s exploration of the mythic, lesser-known oddities of flyover country. The mysteries, ranging from bipedal wolf sightings to run-ins with pancake-flipping space aliens to a lumberjack-inspired “Hodag hoax,” make this book a little bit X-Files, a little bit Ghostbusters, and a whole lot of Sherlock Holmes. Hollars’s quest is not to confirm or debunk these mysteries but rather to seek out these unexplained phenomena to understand how they complicate our worldview and to discover what truths might be gleaned by reexamining the facts in our “post-truth” era.
Jourdan Hines and the Dapper Whimsy play 100% feel good music! Jourdan and crew bring positivity, passion, and philosophy to their folk/bluegrass pop originals that will undoubtedly bring a smile to the faces of you and your friends! Come on down!
Draft & 16 oz can release with Costume Contest!
Just when you thought it was safe to open the fridge, SWAMP THANG delivers a fierce bite of bright citrus and tropical fruit flavors and a huge, hazy, hoppy high from Simcoe, Enigma and Citra hops. Beware – this monster Double IPA from Lake Louie Brewing and Working Draft Beer Company will get you shook. 60 IBU // 8.1% ABV.
Madison Homebrewers & Tasters Guild member, Caleb Andrews, taps a special keg of his Pils made in collaboration with Gathering Place in MKE.
One of WDBC’s own, Cris Bissell and his pals Steering Ships with Empty Bottles treat the taproom to a glorious evening of tunes, tones, & suds.
Spontaneous. Surprising. Weird. Energetic. Boozy. These are just some of the words that have been used to describe Milwaukee dark-roots band Steering Ships With Empty Bottles. With an eclectic mix of traditional roots sounds, fast-paced punk and rock riffs, and soulful lyrics it's no wonder they've set themselves apart in an expansive musical landscape. With songs to get your feet stomping and your heart weeping, there truly is something for everyone in their craft. This has offered them the fortunate opportunity to spread their sound both all across the United States and abroad.
With five full-length albums, multiple split EPs, and tracks on a slew of samplers across the globe, you can always be sure that there's something new on the way.
The tides may change, but the ship will always sail.
Do we know what's hot right now? What curls the handlebar mustache? What haze wheezes the most juice? What tropical fruit to kettle-sour or what breakfast cereal to mash?
We sure do.

Let's Get to Work, Madison!
Live music is all over the WDBC event calendar this month, and in addition to Ryan Burns at Working Draft Music Monday and Music Monday w/ Russell Pedersen, we're also hosting a magnificent Make Music Madison show featuring Madison's own Hollow Bill!!
A foot-stomping, beer-drinking good time, Hollow Bill stretches through eras and genres, mixing elements of classic rock, country, folk and blues to create a sound that blends their biggest influences with a modern folk-rock twist. Through a mix of originals and covers, Hollow Bill uses songs to highlight life's simplicity & complexity, good & bad times, love, loss and everything in between.
We absolutely loved hosting our Make Music Madison show last year, and Hollow Bill is sure to bring an amazing energy on a night of city-wide musical celebrations! And in addition to the live tunes, we'll have 16 craft beers and sodas on tap + fantastic food from the WDBC kitchen.
Cheers to all the great musicians who've come through the WDBC taproom, and stay tuned for more and more live music throughout the year!

Join Ryan Burns for his first time in Madison at Music Monday at Working Draft Beer Company as he tours to support his upcoming EP release!
Raised throughout the midwest and living in Chicago, Ryan Burns plays music colored with the simple values of his surroundings. After spending his childhood singing and playing songs, it wasn't until he was an adult that he realized his calling to make music.
Now Ryan plays genre-bending Americana songs on his banjo and guitar, winning over audiences with his combination of thoughtful songwriting and cathartic vocals. He’s played many regional festivals and shows over the past year solo and with the band Distant Brothers, including sharing the stage with The Last Bison, The Crane Wives, and Parker Gispert.
After honing his stage presence with dozens of shows since the Fall of 2018, Ryan is releasing his debut EP, The Institute, in May 2019.
As always, there’s NEVER a cover for our Music Monday shows!!
Feel free to bike to our June happy hour at Working Draft Beer Company, an awesome newer addition to the Willy Street Neighborhood with a community feel and a passion for hops.
Aside from the beer and atmosphere, we love that WDBC sponsors an Artist-in-Residence program, so that local artists can find dedicated space to their craft in the taproom, whether that's a gallery space, a venue for acoustic music, or a backdrop for a poetry reading. They also host a ton of trivia nights and fun collaborations with other local breweries!
During this Happy Hour, we'll be featuring Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, which creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Since their founding in 1984, more than 6,700 children and their families throughout the state have experienced the life-changing power of a wish. This year, Make-A-Wish® Wisconsin granted more wishes than ever before - 402 wishes. Make-A-Wish serves a unique, and vital, role in helping strengthen and empower children battling critical illnesses.
